Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said the country has 19.99 million people
living below the poverty threshold. This represents 18.1 percent of the population. In 2018, there were 17.67 million poor Filipinos. The poverty situation could be worse because the government's poverty threshold in U.S. dollars, for a person belonging to a family of five members only needs to earn $1.41 per day.
More than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty earning less than $1.25 a day.
805 million people worldwide do not have enough food to eat. More than 750 million people lack adequate access to clean drinking water. One in four of all humans, around 1.6 billion people live without electricity. Nearly 1/2 of the world's population, more than 3 billion people live on less than $2.50 a day
95 billion packs of instant noodles are eaten every year. Last year 509.87 million metric tons of rice was consumed worldwide but global rice production is forecasted only at 505.4 million tons. Each year 1.3 billion tons of food products are wasted or lost, which is 1/3 of total food produced worldwide. Yet close to a billion people do not have enough food to eat .
